Watercolor Meditations

Have you ever thought of painting with watercolors as a spiritual practice?  I do.  Each morning I begin with hot tea as a reminder to fill my own cup, a morning devotional, a practice of gratefulness, and a watercolor meditation.  Through the watercolors, I tune in to how I am feeling as I begin the morning.  I invite Divine Presence to join me as I step into the gift of a new day.

In our fast-paced world, finding moments of tranquility can feel like a luxury. However, it's essential to make time for inner peace and self-reflection. If you're seeking a unique and spiritually enriching practice, I invite you to join me in a Morning Watercolor Meditation practice, a beautiful fusion of mindfulness and creativity.

Imagine starting your day with a sense of calm and creativity. Morning Watercolor Meditations offer a gentle and soul-nourishing way to connect with your inner self while exploring the vibrant world of watercolors. This practice is not about perfection; it's about self-expression, mindfulness, and spiritual growth.

Why Morning Watercolor Meditations?

Watercolor meditation allows you to be fully present in the moment. As you paint, you'll naturally enter a state of meditation, letting go of stress and worries.

Even if you've never picked up a paintbrush before, this practice welcomes all skill levels. You'll discover the joy of expressing your emotions and thoughts through colors and shapes.

Water is often associated with spirituality and emotions. Morning watercolor meditations can help you dive deep into your inner world, exploring your feelings and experiences in a visual and symbolic way.

This practice can promote a sense of balance in your life. As you create, you'll learn to harmonize your thoughts and emotions, finding inner peace.

How to Get Started:

1. Gather Supplies: You'll need basic watercolor supplies like paper, brushes, and paints. Don't worry about having the best materials; what matters most is your intention.  I typically use a composition book and Prang watercolors.

2. Find a quiet, well-lit space for your practice. Create a calming atmosphere with soft music or incense, if you prefer.  Light a candle.  Often I sit in my sunroom where I can enjoy my backyard and all the birds who visit each morning.

3. Begin with a Centering Meditation:  Start your session with a brief meditation to ground yourself and set your intentions for the practice.

4. Paint with Presence:  Let your intuition guide your brushstrokes. Allow your feelings and thoughts to flow onto the paper without judgment.

5. Reflect and Journal:   After your painting session, take a moment to reflect on your artwork. What do the colors and shapes represent? Journaling your thoughts can be a powerful part of the practice.  I find that poems often flow from this time.  Notice what is shimmering for you as you begin your day.

I invite you to consider adding Watercolor Meditations to your spiritual journey. Morning Watercolor Meditations can be a wonderful part of your morning spiritual practices.

Morning Watercolor Meditations offer a harmonious blend of spirituality, creativity, and mindfulness. Take a step towards a more serene and balanced life by embracing this unique practice. Enjoy exploring the world of watercolors and connecting with your inner self. The canvas awaits – are you ready to paint your path to inner peace?

Blessings always!
Mary Ann
